February in Review

Here we go!! Short month = fairly short post ;) Enjoy!!!

Feb. 3rd was Granny's 85th Birthday!! She's really funny because she's so spunky and she loves her Tanny-Man (that's what she calls him!!). Who'da thought Tanner would get to help blow out candles!!

He's pretty fond of "Gwanny" too!!

Our church had a ladies retreat on Feb. 18th at Camp Garraway called "If the Shoe Fits." I roomed with my BFF Amy and let me just say there was lots of laughing!! Betty Sue and Aunt Patsy were there too so we always had people to eat with!! They had a bonfire and smores (what a gooey treat!!) for us that night after the first session. Um...did ya'll know I don't really do wildlife? We went up to our room to grab our jackets, came back down and the group had left us!!! We had to walk through the nasty dark woods with who knows what creatures lurking around us!!! At one point I thought Amy was gonna run!!!

Tanner is really into Legos these days!! He loves to build all kinds of things and it keeps him occupied for extended periods of time!! Legos = Housework!! Woohoo!! Some of his best creations include cabins, birdhouses, robots, trains & houses!!! He brought this to me and said, "Mama, I build you a house "wif" a "hedicotter"!!! Isn't that so sweet that he wanted me to have my very own helicopter?!?!?! (The white X)

He told me this was the biggest birdhouse he'd ever seen!!!

And here's just a random picture of him and his cousin, Peyton!!

January in Review

Here's a re-cap of January in random order:

This jacket was Scotty's when he was Tanner's age. My mother-in-law kept it all these years!! I'm very sentimental so I was very excited for Tanner to have his Daddy's jacket. I think Scotty was proud that Tanner would have such a keepsake too. I usually don't let him wear blue jeans to church, but we made an exception so he could show off his "new" jacket!!

We were tired of being cooped up in the house so one day we decided to brave the elements and play outside. Tanner wanted to ride his trike so we bundled up and went!!

After a couple of accidents I decided it was time to step in and help...

I told him to push his legs as hard as he could and that would make him go. That's exactly what he did!! He took his little hand and pushed down on his knee with all his might and didn't quite understand why that was NOT making him go!!!

After deciding that riding bikes was over-rated he thought it would be more fun to play in the woods!! And it was!!

My cousin, Zenda, is out of town a lot for work so she missed seeing Tanner to give him his Christmas present. We all met up over at Mom & Dad's house so she could give it to him!! They wasted no time setting up camp and she was so appeasing to get in the tent when Tanner asked. He loves his "Aunt Z" and it's not real hard to see why!!!

Granna & Pa gave Tanner a trampoline for Christmas. It took a few weeks for us to have time to set it up, but when we did....Tanner was a new man!!! He hops everywhere he goes so this was the perfect present for him!! He started out a little unsure about it, but a few bounces later he was like an old pro. Yes, Scotty set this up in the living room, but it was just too cold to get any use of it outside. So I lived with an obstacle course for a few weeks!!! These next few pictures are a "slide show" of Tanner after about 5 minutes after the first time he stepped foot on the trampoline!!!!

We very quickly realized, the net that came with it was a necessary part to this equipment!!!

Being cooped up inside for extended periods of time will drive anyone mad....I'm just glad there was a little laughter invovled in ours!!! He was so silly during his snack one day that I just had to start snapping pictures!!!

One of my very best friends invited us to her little girl's birthday party and boy was Tanner excited!! He loves Morgan and they always play so sweet together. We went a little early and here they are in her bounce house.

Tanner loves to help blow out candles and I tried to explain to him that we really can only do that with family members because we don't wanna take away anybody else's day. So he accepted this bit of information but wasn't super happy about it. So we stood back with Morgan's other friends. When Morgan went to blow out her candles, Tanner blew as hard as he could from across the room!!

They thought he was so funny that they re-lit the candles and let him help Morgan do it again!!
Thanks, Kell!!!

Morgan's cotton candy machine was a huge hit!! If these two get hitched, I'm pulling this picture and putting it right beside the cotton candy machine at the reception!!!

January seems like it was full of birthdays!! Scotty's partner at work also invited us to his little boy's birthday party. It was one of the neastest parties we've been to. Christopher had a Taekwondo party!! So fun!! They even had instructors to guide the party!! Amazing!! Christopher was turning 6 so there was a big age difference, but Tanner blew us away with how well he kept up!!
It started out with an obstacle course while the other kids were arriving.

Then the instructor told them what all they were about to do.

I was so proud of Tanner for following instructions!!

Here he is blocking.

It was such a neat party and taught the kids about discipline and respect while having fun. I think we may sign Tanner up for lessons when he's old enough!!

Just Had To

Ok...I know I said there would be no more Christmas pictures (it is March after all) but I just had to post this one!! Every year our family takes a huge group picture with everybody that comes to Christmas. Dana (our family photog) started this tradition and always has her camera and tripod ready to capture another year!! She emailed me the other day and said she'd read the blog but noticed I didn't have our group picture on there and that she'd attatched it. She said the picture made her laugh out loud, but omg this should've come with a warning lable!!! I was at home by myself hysterical from laughing. One of those laughs you do all by yourself and think if somebody saw me now they'd think I was a fool!!! I mean just look at my Granny in the middle!! We should send this to Hallmark!! Click on the picture to make it bigger so you can really get a good look!! Have a laugh on us and get your weekend started out with a bang!!

Taming the OCD

For those of you that know Scotty, you know that he's got a slight case of OCD. And by slight I mean the biggest case of OCD known to man pretty much!!! Own it, Babes!! Well, over the last 2 years we've noticed that Tanner's got some OCD tendencies. Maybe they're just his quirks and maybe he'll outgrow them soon enough, but none-the-less, he IS his father's son!! Now don't get me wrong, Tanner can make a mess with the best of em'. But you let one block in a line be just an inch too far to the left and you can bet your bottom dollar that boy is gonna move it to the right. You can watch him go around the house and move things until they're just so, organize toys together, and has to build things just perfectly. And above all, Tanner HATES to be dirty. I know, I know...not typical of a boy, but he cannot stand for his hands or his clothes to have anything on them. I can remember even before he could talk I would be feeding him in his high chair and if food got on his hands, he would hold them out and grunt until I would wipe them off and then he would go right back to his meal!! So we feel it is our job to help tame the OCD!!
We bundled up one day at the beginning of January and headed outside. I had been sweeping in the garage and Tanner was playing in the leaves on our front steps. I left the broom for a minute and you can see the wheels in his head turning.

And in the name of Neatness he decides no task is too daunting. And so he gets to work. Sweeping.
So I decide to do a little exercise with him!! Bless his heart he thought it was snack time!! I gave him a pudding cup, stripped him down and forced him to paint our glass table with pudding!!!

He's started out being a good sport....

And then when he realized it was a dirty job, he started pleading with me to "Pwease wipe it off!"

I made him paint until most of the pudding was gone!!

He would paint a little and eat a little, but by the end, he was covered from head to toe!!

The only thing left to do was reward him by giving him a bath!!! It kinda back-fired on me because as soon as I started leading him to the bath tub, the phone started ringing, he was so anxious to get to the bathroom I was having a hard time keeping his hands off the walls, trying to take pictures so I could blog this....you get the point. And then to top it all off he pooped in the tub!!! So then I had to clean and disinfect that and start all over!!! Yeh, that's pudding on the wall!! Don't worry, Scott, it wiped right off!! You didn't even know til now!!

I never thought the bath tub could make one kid so happy!!!
