Fun Times at the Fair

I'm really not sure if there's another kid in the entire world that loves the Mississippi State Fair as much as Tanner Davis. I mean he LOVES it!!!! The rides, the food, the rides, the lights, the rides, the animals!!! Did I mention he LOVES the rides?!?! We hafta have major discussions about how the fair doesn't stay here all year and how we eventually hafta leave because the carnival workers hafta go to sleep too!!! He needs lots of time to process and prepare for horrible, yet inevitable, fact of life!!! But boy does he have fun in the mean time!!! Me and Scotty both are pretty fond of the fair too, so I guess he gets it honest!!

Mesmerized by the Ring of Fire!!

We love a Funnel Cake!!

Todd & Lauren went with us to see Tanner ride all the rides!! He loves them so much and was so excited they came!! And bless Lauren's sweet heart she was coaxed into riding lots of rides with Tanner since for some reason they didn't let preggers people join in the fun!! Discrimination, I think!!!

Tanner loves to ride the Ferris Wheel with his Daddy. Obsessed is probably a better word. Believe it or not, he rode it last year for the first time (when he was only 2!!!) and has never been the same since!!! It's kinda their thing!!

Jeepin'!!

Wooo Hoooo!!!

Tanner and Lauren riding Betsy Bee!!

And the Dragon Roller Coaster!!!
Tan Man's in the yellow one!!

These race cars were one of Tanner's favorite things to ride and one of the funniest to watch!! They went around a track and then would whip around the curve really hard and fast and Tanner would die out laughing!!! It was hilarious!!

It was almost time to leave and Tanner, of course, had a meltdown. Uncle Todd tried to reassure him that he was gonna get to come back to the fair another day, but he just didn't understand that carnies need beauty rest too!!! Then they started turning all the lights off!! True story.

Nothing like a little Pineapple Whip for the road!!

So that was a week night. Yes, I kept my kid out til almost 11pm. We made plans to go back with my family that weekend and Tanner could hardly wait for Saturday!!!
We'd gotten a new bed and mattresses and had the old ones standing up in our back hallway and Tanner loves for Scotty to drag them out into the living room so we can have a "Slum Party" (slumber party). When we drag them out, it usually ends up with me and Tan on the mattress and Scotty on the couch and then we watch a movie - Tanner's choice. So Friday night we had a Slum Party in anticipation of going to the fair the next morning!! Such fun memories!!

We started off the morning with a pony ride!!! (And one of those free biscuits with syrup!!)

Tanner started off riding with Scotty walking beside him, but then got brave and did it all by himself!!

Playing games with Daddy!!

My Dad and Sister took a spin on the roller coaster!!

And then they shared Pineapple Whip with Tan!!

The car from The Help!!! We'd had a mother/daughter date and gone to see the movie so the car was kinda like posing with a movie star!!

Tanner & Granna dancin' to some oldies!!

She's the wild one.

Tanner & Elsie the Cow!! After he got done petting her he was introduced to strawberry milk!! Now his fave!!

Then it was time for the Pig Races...

Oh the pig races (sigh).... Tanner got picked from the crowd to be a pig rooter. He was assigned one of the pigs and if his won he got a "prize". Well, his did win!!! Then the last race is when they brought out the pot-belly pigs. The actually wanted to pick fat people from the crowd to be the rooters for these!!!! Just keep in mind, at the time, I was nearing the 7 month mark in my pregnancy. And what does my sweet husband do??? VOLUNTEERS ME!!!! And he pointed to my belly!!! The man thought that was hilarious so of course I was a pig rooter for the big ol' pot-bellies!!!! FYI - my pig didn't win bc it stopped to eat. What a porker!!! (In all the madness I forgot to take a picture of the pot belly pig...they were huge. This one was Tanner's!!)

Tanner being awarded his blue ribbon and pig rooter sticker!!

I love that he was soooo pumped up!!!

Another Ferris Wheel ride!!

Dragon Coaster with Da!!

Nothin' like ending with a slide down Old Yeller with Pa!!

Can't wait til next year when all 4 of us get to go!!!!

My 29th Birthday

October 4th was my 29th birthday. Don't really feel much older, which is a good thing. I'm really thinkin' that this last year in my 20's is gonna be great!! Just a feelin' I have!! Everybody says that your 30's are the best years...all I know is that I LOVE my life so bring it on!!!

Scotty got me a prenatal massage from Trio from my birthday (which by the way, Annie Kate has been here for 3 weeks and I still have not gotten that massage!!) You might look at this picture and think it makes no sense....let me tell you the story. Scotty was in the living room charting and watching a game so I went to the bedroom to watch TV in there. I couldn't find the remote and I'd looked everywhere and I knew Scotty had done something with it. So I thought to myself, "If I were Scott Davis where would I put the remote?" I went right to his t-shirt drawer. Lo and behold there it was and my massage that he'd "hidden" was right there beside!! 2 for 1 ain't too shabby!!

We went to my parent's house to celebrate on October 7th. I just thought this picture of Tanner was cute!!

He's so snuggly and it's my favorite thing about him. I could eat him!!!!

My birthday was great celebrating with family. Lookin' forward to lots more!!!

Community Helper Week

September 26th-30th was Community Helper Week at Tanner's school. They spent the week learning about all the different occupations that help people in our community. The teachers asked Scotty to come speak to Tanner's class about being a doctor. I can't believe I didn't take a picture, but Scotty brought home goodies for all the kids from his office and I made them each a doctor's bag with their name on it. Each bag had a pair of latex gloves, a bandaid, a tongue depressor, a sucker, and a sticker. At the end of the week, they got to dress up as their favorite community helper. Tanner was so proud to show off his Daddy at school!!
My two docs!!

I know this picture is blurry, but it's the only one I could get of Tanner being the line leader and bringing his class to meet his Daddy!!

Scotty talked to Tanner's friends and read them a book and then showed them some of the instruments he uses at the clinic.

Scotty needed a volunteer to let him check their ears and of course picked Tanner!! Look at how excited and proud Tanner is!!! Scotty told him Barney was in one ear and Dora was in the other!!

Then Tanner got to take the otoscope around to show all his friends!!

Scotty with all the kids.

Like father, like son.
