You're Lookin' At the Newest Member of SAWA

See that girl in the cute little polka dot apron?? Well that's me!! And I'm the newest member of the Tupelo Salvation Army Women's Association aka SAWA (pronounced Say-wa). They do service projects like the Angel Tree and Empty Bowl (feeding the homeless). It's really a great organization with lots of great members.

The first project that I participated in was making dressing!! And these ladies were so excited that I had never done this before!!! They were such great teachers!! I think it's so funny because eversince I've known Scotty, I'm usually the youngest anywhere we go, no matter who we hang out with (which I'm not complaining!!) and this SAWA crowd is no different!! We have 2 other members who they call "young" but they're all young at heart!! These ladies are so sweet and so much fun to hang out with!! They really make you feel good and that they are so glad to have you around!!

Since we were making dressing for so many people, we had to mix it up in huge containers. You can't be afraid to get dirty!! You gotta really dig in and go all the way to the bottom of the container so all the ingredients get meshed together!!! I'll have you know that this SAWA girl was in no way, shape or form scared to get dirty!! I had dressing all the way up to my elbows!!

We slaved over this stuff all morning!!

In the end, the slaving was all worth it!! I've never seen so much dressing in my life!! And there's probably not a building that has ever smelled better!!

I forgot to mention the person who deserves all the credit for getting me involved in SAWA!! My friend Ashleigh!!! I was at her house one night just chit chatting away and she told me she had this meeting to go to and that I should come with her!! And so I did!! The rest is history!! All props go to her!! I'm so upset though because I didn't even get a picture with her!!! Ashleigh, I know you're reading this!! We need a pic girlie!!!

Christmas Caroling

Tonight we had a candidate dinner at Vanelli's. We were talking about all things Christmas and someone began telling our applicant about Ashley Harris's house. It does not do him justice to compare him to Clark Griswold. They say when his Christmas lights are on, you can see a glow coming from a mile away!! So someone had the BRIGHT idea to take our applicant and go caroling. So of course, the Davis's jumped on the bandwagon. We loaded up and caravanned all the way to the Harris's.

We went to the front door and belted out Jingle Bells to the top of our lungs. We had to sing through it twice before Ashley came to the door!!

I guess you could say this was the surprise of his holiday season. He didn't have his lights on because it was raining....something about water throwing the circuits. Let's pray it doesn't rain on Christmas. It would be aweful not to be blazin' on CHRISTMAS!!! Hope his neighbors didn't mind all our shinanigans!!

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is the time of year when you get together with friends and family and think about what you're the most thankful for. We really should have that mindset all year long, but since we get so busy with everyday life, it's good that we get to set aside 1 day out of the 365!! We were able to come home for Thanksgiving, but it was bittersweet because this was the first time we haven't lived in Jackson during the holidays. Even though we didn't get to see all of our friends and family this time around, we are so thankful for each and every one of you and the roles you play in our lives. We are so blessed to have you.
And now that I've had time to sit on my sappy soap box, let me just tell you about all the fun we had this Thanksgiving!! It was Mr. Robert and Mrs. Betty's turn to keep us so we drove in on Wednesday and ate with Scotty's family. There are so many people when we get together (with just immediate family) that I think we're gonna hafta start having a Davis Roll Call at all our outings. On Thanksgiving Day we ate lunch at Mom and Dad's and dinner at MawMaw's. Amanda and Bradley were the only ones on either side that went shopping on Black Friday and the rest of us just watched Football. Me and Mrs. Betty put together our gingerbread house and Mom and Dad rounded up all the Christmas decorations. We had Mr. Robert's birthday supper that night and I hung out with Uncle Elton and Aunt Bobby for a few hours before it was time to eat. Saturday we went to Mom and Dad's and decorated for Christmas (and of course watched more football). We left from there and headed back home so Scotty could work the night shift in the E.R. Yuck!! All in all, it was jam packed, but so much fun!!!
We ate so much food we were miserable. Before Scotty met me, he had never seen so many casseroles at any one family function!! But even though we had all these casseroles to feast on, Tom Turkey was our Guest of Honor!!

Look at these beautiful Davis faces!!

When me and Mrs. Betty made our Gingerbread House, my first job was to mix the icing. It was my first time with a mixer!!

We took our handiwork very seriously.

But we did make time for a snapshot!! Since Mrs. Betty is so good at decorating cakes, she was in charge of all the icing and I put on the candy.

And this is our finished product. If a Gingerbread House doesn't put you in the Christmas Spirit, then you're worse than the Grinch!!

This is the ornament that always kicks off the holidays in the Sellers house. This is my dad's favorite ornament. It's older than he is and he has always put this ornament on first ever since he was little.

And to this day, it's still the first ornament to go on the tree.

And after that ornament goes on, we dive in to put the rest of the ornaments on the tree.

You can't just put your ornament anywhere. It takes a lot of thought and contemplation.

My sister did everything she could to look like a reindeer!!

In the midst of all the hustel and bustle, Edie was perfectly content with her bone.

Needless to say, my parents consider Scotty a gift!!

We had a great time in Jackson. We definitely have the best family and friends ever. We hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. So, from our blog to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!!

Shout Out To My BRO!!!

Soooooo............my brother-in-law is really depressed that he hasn't had a spot on the blog yet. And I said, "OOOOOOOOOO don't worry home slice, you're gonna have your own whole post!!! Eversince I told him this, he's been sleeping a little better at night. There's so much to say about Brad.... where should I start. Sometimes I don't even wanna put the "in-law" part on there because I just feel like he's so much closer than that!!! Like we're related by blood. I'm Brad's hero and he wanted to get that tatooed across his arm, but it took weeks of begging to talk him out of it. I finally made him realize that I was always in his heart and didn't hafta be on his arm. And since he's so great I wanted to give him this tribute in pictures!!!
Here it goes.........To the BEST brother-in-law, no, I mean BROTHER a girl could ask for!!!
Awwww.......There's that million dollar smile!!!

We had to be real careful of the pics we posted of him because he IS a public servant.
This isn't Brad, but it's a great picture of his kid!!!

And here's his other one!!! I'm just about the best sister-in-law, NO, I mean SISTER EEEEVVVVVEEEERRRRR!!!!! You can ask Brad, he'll agree!!

Edie Roasting on an Open Fire

A few nights ago, Scotty decided to get our gas fireplace working since we've been having a little cooler weather. We have scored concrete floors so he put a pillow down to kneel on. When he was finished and had a fire blazing, he got up and left the pillow laying in the floor. Edie saw the comfy spot and the next thing we knew, she had snagged her seat right in front of the fireplace to roast herself. She was so inconspicous about it, at first we didn't notice her. But, of course, when we did I caught it all on film!!

And here are some pictures of Fall Leaves!! I thought these were so beautiful, I just had to share them with you!! Look at how vivid the colors are!! I don't know if I've ever seen anything like it!!! The first 2 are in our neighborhood and the last one is on the way!!

Patriot Games

Wait!! Stop. Do you hear that? Sshhhh...........Listen real close..... What is it you ask? Well, 2 things. One is Peyton Manning crying in a corner and the other is the SWEET SOUND OF VICTORY!!!!!!! O yes, you heard me right!!! The Patriots beat the Colts 24 - 20!! In the battle of Good vs. Evil I gues the better team won!! Maybe Peyton should take some pointers from Tom. He could learn a few things.

Patriot Games are very serious in the Davis household.

How much more intense can this game get??

Victory is OURS!!!

Nanny Nanny Boo Boo! The Patriots Beat You!!!

I feel very lucky the Patriots won. If they hadn't, it would NOT, I repeat would NOT, be very fun to be married to Scotty Davis today!!

Dad's Birthday Bonfire

Happy Birthday Dad!!! Every year for Dad's birthday we have a bonfire at Granny's house!! This year we continued the tradition and it was so much fun!! Most of the family was there and the weather was perfect. Dad turned 56 yesterday and I think it was a pretty good one!!

Look How Huge That Fire Is!!! It Was Really Hot!!!
But it was so cold outside we had to bundle up!!
I love my Birthday Daddy!!
