Fall 2010

There's something about a crisp fall day. So many exciting things happen during this time of year. Some of my favorite childhood memories are centered around the fall. I'll list a few of our favorite things about fall, but my absolute favorite is when you can still walk barefoot outside, but you hafta wear jeans because it's so cool.

We've got 2 acres with our new house and one of our favorite things to do this fall was feeding the deer. We take our bag of feed and Tanner goes to town spreading it out!!
Another thing we love about fall are seeing all the "s-hair coh's" (scarecrows)!! Tanner loves pointing them out so we decided that would be the perfect fall happy for his teacher at school. We also gave her some of our favorite fall candy - candy corn hershey kisses!!! Use one word to describe them? Yum.

Tanner also loved playing with our mums. He would pick off the buds and call them blueberries!!

How can you not love Halloween pajama's?!?! He was making the same face as his monster!!

Not sure if this would be classified as Fall or BOY!! But he made friends with a worm!!

And the "puntin' pay-atch"!!!! We love to watch "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"
so that's where he learned about the pumpkin patch. Hillcrest Baptist Church had a pumpkin patch and that's where we got our pumpkin this year!! We also pass this church any time we go "into town" and eventhough the pumpkin patch has been long gone, he still tells me that's where it was!!

The Hay Maze with Daddy.

Granny helped us dig out all the seeds from our pumpkins so we could roast them!!
He's quite the little chef!!

Tanner was a puppy dog for his Halloween Party at school. I didn't want him to get his real costume dirty so we got this little cheap one!! Here he is with Ms. Ashley!!

And what (or who) was Tanner for Halloween? Drum roll, please.....ELVIS!!! Yeh, he was Elvis last year, but nobody in Jackson saw him!! And he's still young enough for me to pick his costume so...why not!!

We went to the Harvest Carnival at our church and the first stop was to see Granny!!

My family came to see Tanner!!

The next stop was Mimi & PopPop's booth!!

These are Tanner's Sunday School teachers - Ms. Carol & Mr. Robert Jordan. They love Tanner and have really taught him a lot. We couldn't ask for him to be with any better people!! He gets so excited to see them on Sunday mornings and talks about them all throughout the week!!

Tanner won the costume contest and here he is opening his prize!! Candy and a book!!
Then a few dance moves for his adoring fans!!

Hot dogs for dinner!!

Cotton candy for dessert!!

Just in case you were wondering....yes, pure sugar wires him!!!

Tanner, Pa & Da on the hay ride!!

After a fun Halloween night, it was time to put on the Halloween pajamas, start winding down and go to bed....but you're crazy if you thought that was an easy job!!!
Begging for just one more piece of candy before brushing his teeth!!

As you can see I love fall. But one other reason I love it is because it means Christmas is right around the corner. That's really my most favorite time of the year!!! So get ready because it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around the Davis house!! Time to break out the elf slippers!! (Yes, I really do have some and they're obnoxious!!) With that said I leave you with one last picture!!
Ladies & Gentleman, Elvis has left the building!!!!!!

Fair 2010

When I think of October, lots of things come to mind.....my birthday, my anniversary, Halloween...THE FAIR!!!! Oh man!!! When it's time for the fair to come to town, it's like fall is really here!! To me, it's the kick-off to the holiday season!!! It's usually here from the first - mid part of October and with it comes very specific sights, sounds and smells that are the same every year!! When the fair is here we usually go several times and this year we went once with my family, once with Scotty's parents, and once with my brother/sister-in-law!! With what you're about to see, there's no question if we had fun!! Over the next several pictures you're gonna see a family that loves the fair!!!

You hafta start off every fair visit with a free biscuit and hot syrup!!

Seein' the sights.....

Tanner's first game to play at the fair was the duckies!! He picked some to flip over and got to win a prize.
Daddy helped him pick out a shark and Tanner hasn't stopped playing with it since!!
The sherriff let us pet his horse and Tanner thought that was neat!!
Sharing Pineapple icecream with Pa!! Yumm-o!!!

We went into the Trademart to see all the old cars. They were roped off so you couldn't touch them. But, when Daddy & Tanner started dancing to the music.....
One of the workers thought Tanner was so cute that he needed to take a ride in the old fire truck!!!
Tanner was sooooo pumped up!!!
(You can do anything if you're cute enough!!)

On to the Petting Zoo!!

Then Tanner begged Scotty to let him ride the Ferris Wheel. He really did. We walked out of the petting zoo and Tanner looked up and saw it and said, "Daddy, I ride a fess wheel, pweeeez!! Daddy, get a coin to ride!!" Scotty eats out of the palm of Tanner's hand!!

Me & Granny
Tanner & Pa

Waiting for the circus to start!!

This acrobat climbed all the way to the top and did a hand stand!!! She was crazy if you ask me!!

Tanner loved Tom Turkey!!

Tanner ran around the livestock arena while a little storm passed over!! It doesn't take much to make him happy!!

It was kinda chilly after the rain so he bundled up in my sweater.

He wasn't too sure about all the wildlife!!

Tanner & Peyton

Sweet hugs from my little man!!

Kristen & Peyton had a blast riding together!!

Peyton & Tanner on the dump trucks!!
Scotty took video of us riding The Big Yellow Slide so this is the only picture we have to document this ride of our life!! I'll try to post the video soon!! Tanner loved it, by the way!!
Tanner & Daddy waiting to ride the Ferris Wheel for the 1000th time!! This was really Tanner's favorite ride!! I was a chicken so Scotty took him each time. He would've shut it down if we let him, but we had to explain, "This is the last time!!"

Way high up in the sky!!!

Just to give you an idea of how high my 2 year old was....and just how much fear he DOESN'T have....I took this picture when they were exactly at the top and my camera was zoomed all the way. I have a 20x zoom!!! And Tanner's just looking over the edge like it's nothin!!

"Anam" (Adam) "Pey Pey" & "Kwissy"
I just love the fair!!
Peyton & Adam riding the bumper cars!!
Kristen & Scotty waiting in line to ride the Fire Ball!! I'm glad Scotty had somebody to ride with!! He married a huge wuss!!

You'll never find me on this!!! But they rode it!! The carney thought Kristen was cute and overheard her say this was her favorite ride, so he made the ride last extra long. Me and Adam thought the ride was broken because it lasted so long!! Thankfully it was just a carney with a crush!!

Until next Year!!!!
Every time we get on the Interstate and pass the fairgrounds, Tanner always asks to go see the Ferris Wheel!! And still talks about it almost every day!!! We had so much fun making some great memories and I can tell that the fair will continue to be a Davis family tradition for years to come!!
