Trick or Treat

Trick or treat
Smell my feet
Give me something sweet to eat
If you don't I don't care
I'll pull down your underwear!!

Edie is the Reigning Queen at our house and she could not wait for all the trick or treaters to get there. She was so ready to pass out our candy!!

Today we're not only excited about it being Halloween, but Scotty got to come home from LeBonheur for good today!! When he drove up, I had set up a pumpkin for each of us to carve. We'll let you be the judge to decide who's is cuter!!

Good Job on getting those punkin' seeds out!!!

This was a friendly competion so whoever's pumpkin you decide is the cutest.....there won't be any hard feelings =)!!!

Can you guess who's is who's?

It's Over!!!

When we decided that Scotty would do his residency in Tupelo, one of the program requirements was that he would have to do his pediatric rotation in Memphis at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center. For the longest time we didn't know what month we would have to go so it was really easy to be in denial about the whole thing and just not think about it. I remember the exact moment Scotty told me it would be October. I was on my way home from work and he called and told me. I cried 3 different times about it that night.
We were so sad because October is full of so many fun things: My Birthday (4th), the Fair (around the same time), Our Anniversary (21st), and Halloween. I just knew we were gonna miss out on everything or not be together on those special days. We dreaded this for so long. He would only get 4 days off the entire month so we were really worried. To keep me from being lonely and because Memphis isn't the safest place, we decided that since I wasn't working I would go back to Jackson and hang out with family and we would meet up on his days off. The day we had to leave each other was horrible. I was crying so hard I could barely even see to drive. He stopped with me at the gas station on the way out of town so we could fill up. When we were leaving he was in front. The traffic was really heavy and he pulled out and scurried under the stop light as it was turning red. I was on the phone with my mom, still sitting at the gas station, balling my eyes out and I said, "He got to go under the light and I didn't!!" I was so upset that we had gotten separated. I can look back now and laugh, but it was NOT funny at the time.

I went back to Jackson for a few days and then me and Scotty were able to meet in Tupelo for my Birthday. We decided that we didn't want to be away from each other like that any more so I went back to Jackson to finish up some birthday celebrating with our families and then headed up to Memphis and stayed up there with him for most of the month.

Me & Ashley (guy on the far left) have the same birthday so when me & Scotty went to Tupelo we all met up to celebrate together.
Dip 'n Dots is my favorite icecream in the whole world, so Scotty got me a Dip 'n Dots Cake and it was amazing!! Best cake ever!!!

This is my birthday party with my family.

Which me & my cousin Judy are real pumped up about.

This is my birthday with Scotty's family. Scotty said that since he couldn't be there he wanted me to call him when they sang "Happy Birthday" so he could be a part of the fun too.

Our time in Memphis was completely horrible because we got to stay with our fabulous friends Blakley and Jake. Blakey is doing her Residency at LeBonheur so she took great care of us. We love you, Blakley!!! Another good friend David let us stay a week with him too, but he was out of town so we didn't get a pic with him, but we love him too!!
Eventhough Scotty was eventually appreciative of the the knowledge he gained from his month at LeBonheur, we were so excited when we were able to drive away for good.

In the Spirit of Fall

Ok, I just hafta say that eventhough Christmas is my favorite holiday, I love fall because it means that Christmas is just around the corner. It's so much fun to get all the fall decorations out because Fall Decorations + Getting Them Out of the Attic = The Holidays Are Upon Us!!!! If that doesn't pump you up, then chances are you are Scrooge and Santa will not come see you!! And since I'm so pumped about my fall decorations, I decided that out of the goodness of my heart, I would share them with you!! (Feel lucky!)
This platter was given to me by my wonderful mother-in-law. At every wedding shower she would give some type of seasonal decor. This was for fall!!!!

These pumpkins are my favorite Halloween/Fall candy. We keep them in stock at the Davis house.

I got this lamp for Scotty as a "Happy Halloween/I'm So Pumped That Football Season is About to Start" present. I gave it to him before the first football game of this season and he loved it.

I made this flower arrangement after I saw one in a magazine. In case you're not getting the jist of it, it's a pumpkin out of flowers!!

This sits right outside our front door. Gotta give props to my sister-in-law for giving me the scarecrow for my B-day!!

And this little man sits on top of the mail box.

I hope our decorations help you get in the holiday spirit. Wish you could see them in real life!!!!

Happy Anniversary To Us!!!

Well we've finally made it to the 1 year mark!!! (Go Us!!) We've had a lot go on in our one little year: We got married, bought a house, sold the house, moved to Tupelo, bought another house, Edie was added to our family, Scotty graduated from med school and tons of other stuff!! Does that wear you out just reading that?? Imagine living it!! But, we feel so lucky to have had all these opportunities and experiences to share together and are so thankful for all the blessings God has given us. Me and Scotty are so excited about our future together we can hardly stand it. We know that know matter what comes our way, as long as we trust in the Lord, we can make it through anything.

Scotty has been doing his pediatric rotation in Memphis this month, but they gave him the day off for our anniversary. We had a very relaxing day. We just layed on the couch the entire day and got caught up on all our shows we had Tivo'd and, of course ate our very delicious top layer of wedding cake!!! Then before we headed back to Memphis we ate at this really nice place in Tupelo called the Fairpark Grill. It's a new restaurant that we had never eaten at before and it's now our new favorite spot!!

We've decided that our present to each other will be a hammock for the back yard. We haven't found one we like yet, but guess what? You can bet when we do get it, it will definitely be on the BLOG!!!

We took a break from our TV shows to take a quick pic.

This is the top layer of our Italian Cream Wedding Cake with Cream Chese Icing. Is it making your mouth water?? Well, it should because it was pretty much the best cake ever!!! YUM!! And if you look closely we got out the fine china to eat it on! (hahahaha)

More Fun In G'burg

This is Wonder Works. It's called "an amusement park for the mind." It was so much fun!! It was filled with games, simulators, and tons of other things that would mess with your brain. We spent almost the entire day there!!! It's something kids would really enjoy, but I think we had more fun here than all the kids combined!! Here's a few pics from Wonder Works:
I was thinking of becoming an astronaut. Do you think NASA could make this space suit a little more fashionable?
That is literally a BED OF NAILS!! Not everybody could do this, but I definitely think Scotty could survive in whatever country it is that they use these things!!

On our next stop we headed for the hills to play a game of Hillbilly Golf!! It was the neatest put-put I've ever played. You ride the Incline 300 feet straight up in the air and then you have 2 courses to choose from. When you're done, the Incline comes back and picks you up and takes you back down!!

Movin' On UP!!!

Later that night we had reservations for dinner and a show at the Dixie Stampede!! Here you eat everything with your hands while you watch a show with 32 horses, singers and dancers, cowboys, and a whole lot more!! When you make your reservations, you get to decided which side you want to sit on, North or South, and you cheer for your side. And your servers are dressed in North and South soldier uniforms.

We don't hafta tell you who we cheered for!!

We LOVED it!!!

The Dixie Stampeder's were also decorated for the Fall Festival!!
On the way back to the cabin we tried to talk Marc and Summer into gettin' hitched at the Chapel of Love!! She was up for it, but Marc wouldn't have it!! Oh Well, I guess good things come to those who wait!!

On our last day of vacation we stopped and went through Rock City, which is pretty much my favorite place on earth!! You should really go there!!

After Rock City we stopped and ate supper at Dreamland BBQ in Birmingham with our friends Zach & Whitney. They are so sweet and we miss them so much!!

History Lesson: Cades Cove and Everything That Goes With It

One reason I love Gatlinburg so much is because every year when I was little that's where my family would take vacations. Until this trip I had not been to Gatlinburg since I was a kid. (Except for chaperoning youth trips which doesn't really count because we weren't hardly there long enough to breathe in the mountain air before we had to go. So we didn't get to do any of this stuff you see on my blog!!) I just think it's so neat that the last time I was here as a child I had no clue that the next trip would be with my HUSBAND!! Me and Scotty love museums so this was a perfect date for us!

Of course, our day at Cades Cove started out with a trip to the grocery store. You can't do Cades Cove unless you have a picnic!! In case you didn't know, Scotty and Marc have been BFF since the womb pretty much. They are pretty much the same person, both drama queens to say the least. And every time they get together, it's always something.

This, of course, happens to be a dispute over what chips should be eaten on the picnic. You can't take them anywhere!!

Me and Summer just smile because we know there's no two like our two. We're there for each other when the drama gets to be too much!!

After the grocery store, we were off. And on the way we decided to hike into the mountains to see Laurel Falls. It was well worth the blood, sweat, and tears to get there.

Mountain Men

Yay!! We finally made it!! And p.s.- that water is sprinkling us!!

This is Cades Cove. It's a park - open air museum - with scenery and homes, churches, buildings, etc. from the 1800's which were once inhabited by small mountain communities. Don't you wish you could wake up to this view every day?

This is the Primitive Baptist Church in Cades Cove. In the 1800s men sat on one side while women and children sat on the other.

This is the Grist Mill. It actually grinds corn into meal and is sold in the Cades Cove Gift Shop. The last time I was here they were having to repair the wall to the left side of the door because a bear had busted through trying to get to the corn meal!! Scary huh??

I think this is an ancient lawnmower!!

I used to play in this mountain stream behind us when I was little!! I think it's so crazy that we have home videos of my in that stream with my bathing suit on and now I'm walking around with my DH!!

Isn't this wildlife so sweet??

Marc and Summer look worn out!!

This looks like a creek bed, but usually it's a river that people tube down!! Can you believe that? It doesn't look like it now because they haven't gotten a good rain in a while. Our boys were NOT too tired to crawl down in there!! It was at least an 8' drop in some places. They like living on the edge and me and Summer couldn't let them have all the fun, so we crawled down there and joined them!!

After our strenuous day in the mountains we decided to take it easy that night. We went out to eat and walked up and down the strip in Gatlinburg.

Sight Seeing In G'burg

Marc and Summer came a day late so me and Scotty had the first day all to ourselves. So what did we do? Duh!! Ate pancakes and went sight-seeing!! We even took a tour of a new resort in Gatlinburg and got a FREE $100!!! Boo-Yah!!! So here's how our day went (after breakfast):

First, we toured the Apple Barn. They grow their own trees and make their own wine. They also have a restaurant, a candy store, and an icecream shop. And my favorite thing they had on property was a Christmas Gift Shop!!! Don't even ask me if I got a souvenir. Of course I did!!!! And in case you're wondering, it was an ornament that says "Jingle All the Way".

Our next stop was a store called The Christmas Place. It looked like Christmas threw up all over the place. It was more like a compound with 4 or 5 stores. Needless to say, I definitely got sensory overload and had to take deep breathes!!

Watch me Crank Dat Soulja Boy

Do you see what this sign says?

Well, we did anyway!!!

And we had fun doing it!! Don't freak out. They were in a cage!!!

After that, Scotty wanted to be in a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Gang.

Then he wanted to be a puppeteer!!

After that barrell-o-laughs we visited the Museum of Salt and Pepper Shakers. And.....that's where the laughs stopped for Scotty. There were over 20,000 salt and pepper shakers. He's real pumped up about it!!

That museum kinda wore us out so we decided to go get a pizza, head back to the cabin, and call it a night. We watched a movie and waited for Marc and Summer.
