Tanner's 1st Day of School

On August 12th Tanner had his first day of school at our church Wynndale Baptist. I can't believe what a big boy he is. When we moved back to Jackson, Tanner had a little bit of trouble with the transition and every time we left him in the nursery at church he was just not himself. The girls in the nursery said he wouldn't play with any kids and wanted to be alone. For the first month a nursery worker would take Tanner into the church office to play. This is the kid that loved his friends and playgroup in Tupelo and was completely easy, laid back and low maintenance. So we were a little worried to say the least. A couple of people suggested we try to get him into the Mother's Morning Out program that our church offers to help get him socialized again. After a lot of prayer we tried it out and it has been a God-send. Literally, on the 4th day I dropped him off and he didn't even look back to say good-bye. Sniff, Sniff!! It kinda made me sad, but the happiness for sure outweighed any damage to my ego!!! He's finally back to himself and we're so thankful that God put all these wonderful nursery workers and MMO teachers in our path!!

Eating breakfast before his first big day of school!!

Pictures with Mommy & Daddy!!!

Me & Tanner would swing a lot in the mornings when we were staying with Scotty's parents. So he needed to get in his morning swing before heading out.

The Big Boy getting ready to walk out the door!!!
Blowing kisses to Mommy in the parking lot!!

He was pretty upset when I left him with his teacher. But his teacher never rushed me to leave. She told me just to walk out when I was ready and she would handle the rest. So I finally gave a last squeeze, a quick kiss and some encouraging words and walked back to the car. I could hear him screaming until I walked outside!!!! I got in the car and just prayed for him. It would've helped to know that only 3 more times and he'd love it!!!

Obviously he calmed down because when I went back to get him around noon, he was eating like a big boy and smiled at me when I came into the room.

He's done so great with school and has finally adjusted to his new surroundings and we know the only person responsible for this is God and we are so thankful. Tanner loves school and his teacher, Ms. Ashley, and we can't wait to see what fun things she has in store for him this year!!

Oh, Val, I know this broke your heart! I'm so glad that Tan Man is doing better now and loving school. I'm sure he'll be back to that sweet, social boy before you know it! These kids amaze me with how much change they can handle! Lots of hugs for that sweet little boy!

Val, he is just growing up! And just keeps getting cuter and cuter (if that is possible). So glad he is doing well in pre-school- and mom is surviving too!

We just started sending Elise to MMO also. She loves it and I am so happy that she is getting the much needed socialization!

I'm so glad he is doing better. It's hard for both of you when the little man cries!
